Lovisa Ringborg: Phantom Limbs

Baroque-like tableaux and the process of transformations Observing the works of Lovisa Ringborg (b.1979) is like being between dreams and reality. The focal point of the exhibition is a group of sculptures of blind, unborn or maybe sleeping creatures that rest on the gallery floor. They capture the attention of the room, but are at the same time introspective and withdrawn into their own world. The sculptures interacts with photography and moving images and add to the condensed and suggestive experience. The organic and fleshy drapery of the images makes you think of the inner organs of the body but also draws inspiration from Renaissance and Baroque paintings. --- Swedish: Fotografen Lovisa Ringborgs bildvärld rör sig mellan dröm och verklighet. Hennes verk kan liknas vid iscensättningar eller tablåer där det undermedvetna pågår bakom kulisserna samtidigt som det medvetna tar plats på scenen. Fotografierna, som lätt för tanken till barockmåleri, är på samma gång vackra, stämningsfyllda och skrämmande. Titeln 'Phantom Limbs', fantomsmärtor, refererar till det vi kan förnimma men ändå inte se, allt det som försvinner över tid men som fortsätter att påverka. Boken inleds med ett samtal mellan Lovisa Ringborg och curatorn Helena Scragg som ger en skarp inblick i Ringborgs konstnärskap. 'Phantom Limbs' ges ut i samband med en utställning på Norrköpings konstmuseum. Lovisa Ringborgs verk har förutom i Sverige ställts ut i ett flertal europeiska länder men också i USA och Sydkorea.
