Family houses for the working class – a movement that started in the 1920s. Here, a study from the ironmill town of Överum. The book is a new version of a previous small edition artists' book. In the 1930’s took the general manager of the Överum iron mills, also the chairman of the local government, the initiative to create a neighborhood where blue-collar and white-collar workers could build their own homes at reasonable costs. He had a vision of a white industrial township. Because of this he wanted all new houses to be white. A lot of the houses have still today the original colour. John Håkansson has photographed them all. The book contains of the 125 images, together with a text by the artist and four historical photographs. The text provide a historical and architectural background.
