Faith, forged in fiberglass
From the publisher:
"Baptistry Tanks In USA” is a photographic exploration of baptismal tanks used for adult baptism in the American Bible Belt. Carl Johan Erikson documents both the production at one of the world's largest baptismal tank factories in North Carolina and the installation of various models in churches — from small chapels in Alabama to megachurches in Texas. The book is Erikson's third with FAS Publishing SE and part of an artistic project spanning more than 25 years, using conceptual documentation to examine practices and artifacts in charismatic Christian environments. Through his work, he reflects on the religious context that has shaped both himself and many others within the Swedish revivalist movement, where American values have played a significant role. The book also includes a personal essay by curator and writer Natasha Marie Llorens, who grew up in the American Bible Belt. Together, they create a layered portrait of faith, culture, and politics from both a personal and global perspective.
