Design Lab S & Sanna Lindberg: En konstig sorts spegelsak

Unique design lab Design Lab S is a collective design studio that started in Skärholmen, a Stockholm suburb with a diverse ethnic mix. Since the start in 2013 Design Lab S engages professional designers and children between the ages of 8 and 15 in collective design processes. Together they examine design processes, experiment with materials and manufacturing techniques and explore new aesthetic expressions. The children who visit the Lab are invited as equal employees, with as much agent in the design process as professional designers. In “En konstig sorts spegelsak” (Odd Kind of Mirror Thing) photographer Sanna Lindberg has beautifully documented the young designers and their extraordinary creations: Innovative objects and clever solutions, many of them full of joy and mischief. And some – simply defyes explanation. Since the book was published Design Studio S was forced to close down its physical studio due to lack of funding. leaving hundreds of children with a memory and the experience of a truly sucessful design space
