- It started at Christmas 2023 with a broken cherry tree, from which I built a cabinet. I thought it was fun and then I saw cabinet material in most things. After that, I have built 95 cabinets that all have their own entrance to a story to tell, for example about memorable quotes, the arms industry, Swedish forestry, the imprint of machines, ugly becomes beautiful and a lot of quality materials that are thrown away.
With this project, Jon Lindström, who works as a furniture designer with designs for industrial production, has had the opportunity to work freely and experimentally, without the demands and limitations of mass production. The cabinets has functioned as a frame where everything has been allowed, a place where old materials have been given new life and where each cabinet is a unique work of art.
The materials that have been used include a variety of resources such as Christmas trees, demolition timber, pallets, metal, signs and bark. The cabinets have been processed in creative and unconventional ways and are similar in shape and size but offer a rich variety in expression and material processing, resulting in a diversity of styles. In the book, Jon Lindström tells more about his artistry and craftsmanship.
