A unique collaboration between a sculptor and a photographer.
The Swedish photographer Gunnar Smoliansky has under a period of forty years portrayed every piece of art that the Swedish sculptor Lars Kleen has been working on in his studio. The collaboration has resulted in an in depth study of material, light, craft, light and shadows.
The constructions and environments are reproduced in intimate and "explanatory" details or remotely, where the works are in symbiosis with well-chosen, very specific rooms. We meet Kleen's scultpures in his studio, in museum exhibitions and art galleries, but also in a storage room, subway station, and in abandoned industrial premises. The materials, the craftsmanship, the light, the colors and the shadows - the whole impression transformed into a new expression. From three raw dimensions to two in black and white. Also included are construction drawings by architect Britta Kleen.
