A new limited edition of Ken Friedman’s 1966 Fluxus event score
From the publisher:
Zen for Record Fluxus artist Ken Friedman wrote the score to Zen for Record in 1966. Beginning as a mysterious LP record discovered during Friedman’s brief career in the music industry, it is now a limited-edition phonograph record and an homage to Friedman’s friend and colleague Nam June Paik. It took six decades to produce this recording, available only at Konst-ig.
To accompany the LP, Punctum Books has published Zen for Record, the story of this LP. With chapters by Craig Dworkin, Hanna Hölling, Robin McGinlay, and Friedman himself. The book is available in a free open-access edition from Punctum.
Ken Friedman became the youngest member of the classical Fluxus group in 1966. Over the years, he collaborated with George Maciunas, Dick Higgins, Nam June Paik, Milan Knizak, and John Cage, as well as writing and editing key documents on Fluxus and intermedia. He is well-known for event scores such as Zen for Record and an exhibition of his scores titled 92 Events is now touring the world.
