Karin Wikström's paintings are filled with animal – like figures that we meet in fairytales and children's books; rabbits, pigs, dogs insects. At first sight they strike a humourous note but very soon the sadness takes over. One painting depicting a cat(?) and a mouse(?) in bleak grey tones actually says it outright: Only the ugliest remain.
