    Description

    Article no.: 9789198584097

Artists books from over 400 artists – this is a pioneering survey by the Swedish art historian Thomas Millroth.

    From the publisher:
In Artists’ Books from a Swedish Point of View...(2021), Thomas Millroth focused on artist-made books in three countries. But there is more—artists create books all the time. Though rarely displayed in galleries or museums, these books possess an undeniable—and free—artistic power of their own. Millroth had to continue and write Appendix 1: Artists' Books...

With curiosity, he explored archives, zines, pamphlets, art schools, printing offices, and even works created by artists incarcerated at S:t Lars Mental Hospital in Lund. Sweden and Denmark remained, but Finland was added, along with a few masterpieces from Norway and Iceland.

Artists’ books have a story of their own to tell. But what is an artist’s book? Of all the representational methods that have entered the art world, artists’ books may be the one with the greatest capacity to encompass such diverse forms as text, images, transcriptions, instructions, documentation, music, collages—and even the exploration of a language beyond language, both literally and visually.

    Svenska:
I Artists’ Books from a Swedish Point of View...(2021) fokuserade Thomas Millroth på konstnärsgjorda böcker i tre länder.
